The ambassadors of Israel and Lebanon meet at the US State Department to discuss the framework agreement

(CNN) - An informed source told CNN that the ambassadors of Israel and Lebanon to the United States will meet at the US State Department, on Tuesday, to discuss efforts aimed at implementing the framework agreement reached with American mediation, which aims to pave the way for a broader peace agreement.

These talks come in the wake of continued Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon.

A round of official talks was scheduled to be held in Rome on Tuesday, but was postponed until next month, according to a US State Department official said last week.

Last week, a source attributed this postponement to logistical challenges related to the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly, the Jewish calendar, and a conference in Paris to support the Lebanese Armed Forces.

The source indicated at the time that these factors “made it impossible for the concerned parties to meet in Rome as was previously planned.”
