President Lee Jae-myung's approval rating rose slightly to 45%... Negative evaluation and tie

The results of a public opinion poll were released on the 21st showing that President Lee Jae-myung's approval rating for state administration rose slightly from last week, when it hit its lowest point since taking office, and reached a tie with the negative evaluation.

According to a poll conducted by Gallup Korea on the 18th to 20th among 1,004 people over the age of 18 nationwide and released on the same day, 45% had a positive evaluation of President Lee's performance of his duties.

This is a 1 percentage point (p) increase compared to the lowest since taking office, which was 44%, in the second week of August survey released on the 14th.

The negative evaluation of the president's job performance was tied with the positive evaluation at 45%. 11% of respondents reserved their opinion.

Reasons for positive evaluation included ‘diplomacy’ (19%), ‘economy/people’s livelihood’ (11%), and ‘overall good performance’ and ‘communication’ (over 7%).

Respondents who evaluated it negatively chose 'real estate policy' (28%) as the biggest problem, followed by 'economy/people's livelihood' (12%) and 'defense/security/North Korea' (7%).

Support for political parties was 41% for the Democratic Party of Korea and 25% for the People Power Party. Both parties recorded the same approval ratings as the previous survey.

The approval ratings of the New Reform Party, the Fatherland Reform Party, and the Progressive Party were 2% each, and the independents who did not support any political party were 26%.

This survey was conducted using telephone interview methods using randomly selected wireless phone virtual numbers. The sampling error is ±3.1%p at the 95% confidence level, the contact rate is 45.6%, and the response rate is 10.0%.
