Israel's Defense Minister warns against Iran: "In case of attack, we will return to the stone age by damaging energy infrastructure"

(Cairo = Yonhap News) Correspondent Kim Sang-hoon = Amid the armed standoff between the United States and Iran, the Israeli Minister of Defense is irritating Iran every day and is showing its will to participate in the war.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said at an event commemorating the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah, sunset on the 11th to sunset on the 13th) on the 3rd (local time), "Signs are being detected that show that the serious economic pressure facing Iran and the fear of popular uprising and regime collapse may push them to extreme measures."

“If Iran attacks Israel, we will be free from all restrictions,” he said, adding, “We will hit all infrastructure, including energy infrastructure, and return Iran to the dark ages of the Stone Age.”

Minister Katz also added, "Israel is fully prepared on both the defensive and offensive sides to prepare for all possibilities. We are ready to accomplish the mission."

Previously, Minister Katz had provoked Iran with similar remarks the day before.

Minister Katz said at an Israeli media event, "Currently, Iran is attacking all parts of the region except us," but "there is also the possibility that they will attack us, and we are preparing for that on the defensive side."

He said that he was thoroughly preparing for the possibility of an attack by the Iranian military during the Jewish holiday period that begins in mid-September, and emphasized, "If Iran attacks, we will respond independently and strongly without relying on anyone. Our fighter jets are ready to sortie at any moment."

He added, “Because they hate Jews, they enjoy attacking during Jewish holidays. There have been many incidents like this in the past,” adding, “However, we are fully prepared for both defense and attack in coordination with the United States regarding this issue.”

Israel joined hands with the United States and started a war in February, promising to topple the Iranian regime and destroy its ballistic missile and nuclear programs.

Afterwards, the United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to end the war in June and opened a diplomatic channel, but the agreement ultimately fell apart due to differences of opinion over control of the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran blocked at the beginning of the war.

Since then, the United States and Iran have continued to engage in sporadic armed conflict, but Israel has not intervened in the armed conflict due to the United States' dissuasion.
