Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao jointly launch the construction of the brain-computer interface standard system in the Greater Bay Area

At the meeting, the Guangdong Provincial Institute of Standardization, China Electronics Technology Standardization Institute, the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the University of Macau and other units jointly launched the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area brain-computer interface standard system construction and application verification project, which will comprehensively enhance the core competitiveness and rules voice of the Greater Bay Area brain-computer interface industry chain.

Brain-computer interface is a future industry that the country and Guangdong Province will focus on cultivating during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period. Standards and intellectual property rights play a supporting and leading role in the high-quality development of the brain-computer interface industry.

According to reports, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area brain-computer interface standard system construction and application verification project will focus on key directions such as brain-computer interface terminology, reference architecture, and interface protocols, compile and implement the brain-computer interface standard system planning and roadmap for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, jointly carry out the development of key standards for brain-computer interface, and build a brain-computer interface standard system covering the entire chain of "basic commonalities - key technologies - product systems - clinical applications - safety ethics".

In addition, the project will focus on "stuck" links such as high-throughput flexible electrodes, neural signal acquisition chips, and neural regulation devices, and jointly carry out research on key core technologies in the industry to enhance the core competitiveness of the industry. Member units will jointly carry out brain-computer interface standardization and intellectual property talent cultivation, jointly carry out brain-computer interface standardization public welfare training, technical presentations, industry exchanges and other activities, and build a cross-regional and cross-field talent exchange and knowledge sharing platform.

It is understood that there are 15 units in the first batch of the brain-computer interface standard system construction and application verification project in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, mainly including universities, institutes, leading enterprises and standards and intellectual property service agencies related to the brain-computer interface industry in the Greater Bay Area.
