The "Insight" data shows that the film supply type during this period is rich, but the audience is more segmented. The per capita number of movies watched during the period was 1.08, and the proportion of viewers watching 2 or more movies has declined. At the same time, the proportion of single-person viewing accounted for 25.7%, reaching the highest level in the past six years, while the proportion of multi-person viewing decreased year-on-year.
"Insight" analyzes that it can be seen that the audience's purpose of watching movies is more clear, and each type of film radiates to different movie-watching groups.
"Insight" shows that the total box office for the National Day period in 2026 is 1.165 billion yuan, and the total number of moviegoers is 31.9959 million. From a macro perspective, although the market size has declined during the period, the market also presents diverse highlights. During the period, there were 12,800 theaters and 79,400 cinemas scheduled for screening, both the highest in the past six years, demonstrating a strong advantage in the projection end of the market. The average daily number of games reached 470,000, an increase from last year. The market had a low start on the first day of the holiday, but the subsequent trend was more resilient. Driven by the premiere of new films on the third and fifth days of the holiday, the daily box office bucked the trend and rose. The fifth day increased by 22.9% month-on-month, becoming the highest single-day box office during the period. This proves that the supply of new films has a clear stimulating effect on the market.
Compared with previous years, this year's National Day season showed the characteristics of "low start and steady growth". While facing changes in market stratification, it still showed sufficient resilience. "Insight" believes that it can be seen from this that the supply of high-quality content is still the source of power for the development of the film industry.
Lai Li, a market analyst at Maoyan Entertainment, said that the performance of this year's National Day blockbuster movies was generally stable, and the top three box office movies all had their own different ways of breaking through. However, due to the lack of larger-scale super blockbusters, audience interest was average and market enthusiasm was relatively insufficient, resulting in the final performance of the schedule being lower than expected. Faced with the continuous improvement of the audience's viewing threshold, the market needs to provide more innovative content in terms of content and form to stimulate the audience's motivation to watch movies and then convert them into ticket purchases. "Resident Evil: Outbreak Night" in this year's schedule relied on its strong IP attributes and unexpected word-of-mouth to form a strong ticket purchase conversion among core audiences. It not only satisfied the viewing needs of vertical audiences, but also drove the continuous spread of box office and popularity.
According to Maoyan Professional Edition data, as of now, the box office in 2026 has exceeded 30.7 billion yuan, and the number of moviegoers has exceeded 784 million.
