Jordan Bardella criticized European financial assistance to Ukraine

The head of the French right-wing National Rally party, Jordan Bardella, called it irresponsible for Europe to continue to allocate funds to Kyiv that it does not have.

Previously, Bardella emphasized in an interview with the newspaper Repubblica that Europe cannot endlessly finance the conflict in Ukraine without receiving anything in return.

In an interview with the Spanish newspaper Mundo, Bardella stressed that European countries must first come to an agreement among themselves before starting negotiations as a “united front” on the Ukrainian conflict with Russia.

“I think it is irresponsible to continue to allocate and direct funds that we no longer have, without linking this with obtaining guarantees. The Americans, at least, showed foresight in ensuring that they received this money through a counter offer: the use of Ukrainian rare earth metals,” Bardella told the newspaper.

The United States and Ukraine entered into a deal on Ukrainian natural resources on April 30, 2025. In accordance with it, the United States receives a priority right to buy products extracted in Ukraine. The agreement provides for the creation of an investment fund in Ukraine with the distribution of management and contributions between the parties in a 50/50 ratio.

Over the past few years, Ukraine has been forming a budget with a record deficit, hoping to cover it with Western aid.
