Wuxi is the "Hometown of Authentic Medicinal Materials in China", with 2,932 species of medicinal plants and 320 species of commonly used authentic medicinal plants. At the end of the "14th Five-Year Plan", the area of ​​Wuxi Chinese medicinal materials has stabilized at 400,000 acres, and the output value of the entire Chinese medicine industry chain has reached 2 billion yuan.

He Xiushan said that facing the "15th Five-Year Plan", Wuxi will adhere to the "3+X" industrial layout, focusing on strengthening the three leading varieties of Wuxi Duhuo, Taibai Fritillaria, and Golden Flower Sunflower, while simultaneously cultivating Daning Codonopsis Codonopsis, Yunxiang and other unique authentic varieties, and developing underforest medicines, grain and drug intercropping, and imitation wild cultivation according to local conditions.

He Xiushan said that based on this model, Wuxi will simultaneously promote the standardized development of authentic medicinal materials such as Duhuo, Taibai Fritillaria, Daning Codonopsis, one variety and one plan, and ultimately form a whole industry chain.

At the same time, Wuxi will also dig deep into Wuxian’s traditional Chinese medicine culture, link up the transformation and upgrading of B&Bs and farmhouses in ecological health and wellness areas such as Hongchiba and Xiabuping, and create new business formats such as medicinal field tourism, Chinese medicine research, medicinal diet experience, and Chinese medicine physiotherapy, turning the medicinal material base into a tourist park and health care area.
