People Power Party Gyeongnam Provincial Council registered 5 candidates for first half chairmanship

Changwon = Yonhap News) Reporter Jeong-hoon Lee = The People Power Party's Gyeongnam Provincial Council Election Commission announced on the 27th that five people have registered as candidates for the chairmanship of the first half of the 13th Gyeongnam Provincial Council, which opens in July.

Until the previous day, the People Power Party's National Election Commission had received registration of candidates for chairman from the People Power Party's Gyeongnam Provincial Council-elected candidates.

Park In (Yangsan 5th and 3rd election), Park Jun (Changwon 4th and 3rd election), Park Hae-young (Changwon 3rd and 3rd election), Yoo Gye-hyeon (Jinju 4th and 3rd election), and Kyu-heon Kyu (Changwon 9th and re-election) registered as candidates for chairman.

President-elect Shin Jong-cheol (Sancheong, 3rd term) ran as a candidate for 1st vice-chairman, and Yang Hae-young (Jinju 2nd and 3rd term) and Lee Chan-ho (Changwon 5th, re-elected) ran as candidates for 2nd vice-chairman.

One to two re-elected candidates have registered for each of the seven standing committee chairs.

President-elect Choi Young-ho (Yangsan 3, re-elected) ran for floor leader.

People Power Party-elected candidates will hold a general meeting on the 29th to elect candidates for the chairman, vice-chairman, standing committee chair, and floor leader.

A total of 68 people were elected to the 13th Gyeongnam Provincial Council, including 44 from the People Power Party, 23 from the Democratic Party, and 1 independent.

Since the People Power Party has the majority, they can sweep the presidency if they vote.

However, if the People Power Party floor leader is elected, there remains a possibility of negotiating the composition of the floor with the Democratic Party floor leader elected on the 17th.

The Democratic Party argues that it should bring in one vice-chairman and two standing committee chairs in the first half of the 13th provincial council, citing the precedent of allocating one vice-chairman and two standing committee chairs to the People Power Party during the 11th Gyeongnam Provincial Council, in which it was the majority party.
