Miryang City's 'Fix Dream' project selected as one of the top 5 best practices nationwide for integrated care and employment for the elderly

Miryang = Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Dong-min = Miryang City, Gyeongsangnam-do announced on the 15th that 'Fix Dream', a housing inconvenience repair project that has been in progress since March, was selected as one of the 'nation's top five best examples of integrated care support and employment for the elderly' hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

In order to discover excellent care models for local governments across the country, the Ministry of Health and Welfare selected best practices in five areas, including identifying at-risk households and improving residential environments. Among these, 'Correct Dream' was recognized for its originality and contribution to the local community and was named as a representative model in the residential environment improvement field.

This project, commissioned by Miryang Senior Club, is a senior job project that improves the residential environment of vulnerable groups by utilizing the skills and talents of new seniors aged 60 or older.

The 10 participating seniors are contributing to eliminating blind spots in care by performing simple home repairs such as replacing lighting and electrical safety checks.

From March to this day, about 30 residential inconvenience issues for local residents were resolved.

Mayor Ahn Byeong-gu said, “This is the result of the valuable experience and talent of the elderly leading to community care,” and added, “We will continue to expand the social participation of the elderly by discovering various employment projects for the elderly.”
