A man in his 50s who was high on drugs and went on a rampage for 30 minutes, including hitting a passerby with his car, indiscriminately assaulting him, and rushing into a store, was sentenced to prison.

Ulsan District Court Criminal Division 11 (Chief Judge Park Dong-gyu) announced on the 5th that it sentenced Mr. A, who was sent to trial on charges of attempted murder and violation of the Narcotics Control Act, to six years in prison.

On the evening of March this year, Mr. A tried to quickly reverse his sports utility vehicle (SUV) towards Mr. B, an acquaintance, in an apartment parking lot in Yangsan, Gyeongsangnam-do.

As Mr. B ran away, Mr. A drove out of the parking lot and searched for Mr. B, then accelerated rapidly towards Mr. C, who was in his late 60s and was walking on the road in front of a restaurant, and hit him.

Because he had a similar facial expression to Mr. B, he attacked Mr. C.

Mr. A drove the car towards Mr. C again with such force that it damaged the steel mesh fence next to him, then got out of the car and attempted to kill Mr. C by indiscriminately assaulting his face.

As Mr. C ran away from the assault, Mr. A started driving again.

He immediately rushed into the fruit shop and hit the stand, causing the startled store owner to fall backwards.

Mr. A tried to drive away from the scene again and hit a nearby car. The driver and an 8-year-old child were in the other vehicle.

When a man in his 60s who witnessed this blocked his vehicle, Mr. A punched the man in the face, opened the car door and pushed him away, and struck him with his fists several times, causing him to suffer a concussion.

He also lunged at another witness who was right next to him and punched him.

In the end, even when a police officer arrived and was arrested as a red-handed criminal, Mr. A kicked the police officer and damaged the patrol car door by kicking it several times and bending it.

It was revealed that Mr. A would do this while under the influence of drugs.

Initially, Mr. A became addicted to Philopon after drinking a drink given to him by his acquaintance Mr. B about 30 years ago, and suffered from hallucinations and auditory hallucinations, and was blaming Mr. B. On this day, he also drove his car while under the influence of drugs and went on a rampage for 30 minutes.

The court stated the reason for sentencing, saying, "The defendant has a history of being punished for drug use in the past, but he committed a so-called 'unspecified crime' against an unspecified number of people, so he needs to be severely punished."

The court took into account the fact that Mr. A suffered from a psychotic disorder and the fact that he had reached an agreement with some of the victims.
