Coming! This year’s National Day Hiking and Charity Park Parade in Changhua County will be moved to Xihu Town. The annual activity of collecting cigarette butts in exchange for gifts is held in conjunction with the hiking activities. This year, the redemption threshold has been lowered. As long as 50 cigarette butts are collected, a 1000cc bottle of dishwashing liquid will be given as a gift. Each person can redeem up to 2 bottles.

The Environmental Protection Bureau stated that this year’s event will be from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on October 10. As long as you collect 50 cigarette butts, you can redeem a bottle of 1,000cc dishwashing liquid. Each person can exchange for a maximum of 2 bottles. The quantity is limited and while supplies last. The Environmental Protection Bureau booth will be set up at Hunan Elementary School in Xihu Town.

Since dishwashing detergent is the most popular redemption item at every exchange event, in the past, you had to pick up 100 cigarette butts. This year, you can redeem only 50 cigarette butts. It is expected that all the redemption items will be sold out soon. Many people said that it is not difficult at all to pick up 50 cigarette butts, because cigarette butts are often stuck in the cracks of gutters or floor tiles, making it difficult to remove them even if they sweep the floor. As long as you are willing to lower your head to pick up cigarette butts, you will quickly reach the redemption standard.

The county government stated that this year’s National Day event has open online and on-site registrations. The online registration will begin today, with a quota of 3,000 people. The on-site registration time for the event will be from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m., with a quota of 1,000 people. If you participate in the entire hike and get stamped, you will receive a limited edition national flag scarf and a lottery ticket.

Because of their small size, cigarette butts are not easy to remove, and they often have to be picked up manually. (Provided by Environmental Protection Bureau)
