Yulia Stupak commented on the possible return of Russian skiers to international competitions

Olympic champion in cross-country skiing Yulia Stupak said that the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) is likely to develop eligibility criteria for Russian athletes that will not allow everyone to compete. TASS reports this.

“I heard the news about the return on the radio when my husband and I were driving from training. At first I screamed with joy, but then I calmed down, because there will certainly be some criteria that will not give everyone the opportunity to perform. This is a more difficult side, a fly in the ointment, let’s say, but I hope everything will be fine,” Stupak said at the International Youth Festival.

FIS will oblige Russian athletes to sign a declaration of neutrality. Chairman of the Russian Ski and Snowboard Federation Dmitry Svishchev said that the deadline for submitting a sample declaration for additional checks has been postponed to September 17.

Previously, FIS announced the admission of Russian athletes to tournaments in the 2026/27 season in a neutral status. The organization also said it would re-screen athletes whose applications for neutral status were rejected.
