Ukrainian Navy launches maritime drone attack on Russian support ship in Sochi port over 500 km away

(Seoul = Yonhap News) The Ukrainian Navy attacked a multipurpose support ship in the port of Sochi on Russia's Black Sea coast, over 500 km away, using a maritime drone.

The Ukrainian Navy said, "A powerful explosion was seen along with smoke around the ship," adding, "The damage to the Nefrit is a blow to the enemy's logistics, special capabilities, and military and economic infrastructure."

On this day, Ukrainian media outlets, including Militarny, also reported that a Ukrainian maritime drone attacked the Nefrit.

The War Zone, a U.S. military media outlet, evaluated this attack as the longest-distance attack by a maritime drone in Ukraine. Sochi is located approximately 560 km away from Ukraine.

However, the media pointed out that, contrary to the Ukrainian Navy's claims, it was difficult to accurately determine the extent of the damage from the videos and photos released on social media.

A video was also posted on social media of a Ukrainian maritime drone exploding and being destroyed before reaching the target point.
