The National Sun Yat-sen Institute of Science held the "Minxiong Aerospace and UAV Industrial Park Groundbreaking Ceremony and the Minxiong Campus Opening Ceremony" in Minxiong Township, Chiayi County yesterday. President Lai Ching-te pointed out in his speech at the ceremony that Taiwan has "everything is ready for the development of the drone industry, all it needs is Dongfeng." Dongfeng relies on the Legislative Yuan for assistance. The Legislative Yuan is requested to support the nearly 60 billion yuan in additional budget proposed by the Ministry of National Defense to purchase from domestic manufacturers and promote the independent development of the UAV industry.

Purchasing domestic drones to promote independent industrial development

Lai Qingde said that from the Ukrainian battlefield to the security of the Indo-Pacific region, unmanned systems have become an important combat force in modern defense. Taiwan has world-class semiconductor and information communications capabilities, as well as a deep precision manufacturing foundation. The Ministry of Economic Affairs is expected to invest 44.2 billion yuan from last year to 2030 to comprehensively strengthen the drone industry and cultivate the development of the drone industry.
