US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the possibility of developing a roadmap for resuming trilateral negotiations on Ukraine.

The American leader's special envoy Steve Witkoff and the American president's son-in-law Jared Kushner held meetings in Moscow and Kyiv.

At a meeting in the Kremlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized the need to eliminate all the root causes of the Ukrainian conflict.

WASHINGTON, September 9 - RIA Novosti. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that following contacts between US representatives in Moscow and Kyiv in the coming weeks, it will be possible to develop a roadmap for resuming trilateral negotiations on Ukraine.

"I don't want to be overly optimistic, but I don't want to be pessimistic either, in the sense that there is an opportunity in the coming weeks to develop a road map to resume negotiations and perhaps reach a resolution that is acceptable to both sides," Rubio told reporters in Colombia.

According to him, contacts between US representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner over the weekend in Moscow and Kyiv could lead to the fact that there will be “a path for resuming negotiations in which the United States has always been ready to participate as mediators.”

On September 5, Russian President Vladimir Putin met in the Kremlin with the American leader’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and the American president’s son-in-law Jared Kushner; it lasted about three hours. The Russian leader emphasized at the meeting the need to eliminate all the root causes of the Ukrainian conflict, Russian Presidential Assistant Yuri Ushakov told reporters.
