Foreign Minister Lin Jialong hosted a banquet for the "Japanese Reform Association Public-Citizen Cooperation Promotion Council" yesterday and exchanged extensive and in-depth views with members of Congress on Taiwan-Japan relations, regional security situation, economic security resilience and other issues. In his speech, he said that given the severe challenges such as the sudden changes in the Indo-Pacific situation in recent years and the reorganization of global supply chains, Taiwan and Japan, both located in the first island chain, should deepen mutual economic security resilience, optimize the Taiwan-Japan bilateral dialogue platform, focus on semiconductors and other fields, and jointly create prosperity and win-win results.
Lin Jialong held a luncheon yesterday (24th) with members of the "Japanese Restoration Council Public-Citizen Cooperation Promotion Council", including House Representatives Maehara Seiji, Iwatani Ryohei, Urushima Joji, Hagiwara Yoshi and Takami Liang; Ministry of Foreign Affairs advisory committee member Xie Wensheng, Taipei Ocean University President Lu Yaozhi, and Vision Foundation CEO Lai Yizhong attended the meeting to exchange in-depth opinions on topics such as Taiwan-Japan relations, regional security situation, and economic security resilience.

In his speech at the luncheon, Lin Jialong emphasized that Taiwan and Japan share basic values such as freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law, and have actively promoted dialogue and exchanges in various fields for many years, such as the signing of the "Taiwan-Japan Investment Agreement", the "Taiwan-Japan Double Taxation Agreement" and the "Taiwan-Japan Customs Cooperation and Mutual Assistance Agreement" and other important agreements. This is a solid foundation for relations rarely seen in other countries around the world.
In the face of severe challenges such as the sudden changes in the Indo-Pacific and the reorganization of global supply chains in recent years, Lin Jialong pointed out that Taiwan and Japan should work together to strengthen each other's economic security resilience, and at the same time, refer to the relevant cooperation mechanisms between Taiwan and the United States, optimize the functions of the bilateral dialogue platform between the two countries, and substantively cooperate in growth strategic areas that both sides are focused on, such as semiconductors, AI, smart medical care, and disaster prevention and reduction resilience, to jointly create a win-win situation for both countries.
Seiji Maehara responded that during his visit to Taiwan, in addition to visiting the Hsinchu Science Park and the Industrial Technology Research Institute, he also visited Shuanghe Hospital of the Ministry of Health and Welfare and other "Build-Operate-Transfer" (BOT) public facilities to experience first-hand the resilient economy and technological strength of Taiwan's public-private cooperation. He deeply felt that there is still huge potential for cooperation between Taiwan and Japan, and looked forward to the continued deepening of bilateral relations in the future.
