The American ambassador to Israel comments on the Fly Dubai flight incident

The US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, commented on the incident that occurred on Wednesday morning, which included changing the course of a Flydubai flight that was heading to Tel Aviv.

Huckabee noted that Israeli passengers on board the plane "helped control the co-pilot who apparently tried to take over the plane."

Huckabee wrote on the X platform that the incident could have been "horrific," but everyone was safe, adding that the details were still unclear at this point.

In a related context, Israeli sources told CNN that they suspected that the co-pilot tried to hijack the plane after stabbing the captain, forcing it to make an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia.

A Flydubai spokesman said earlier on Wednesday that flight No. FZ 1073 “saw an accident during the flight” and landed at Tabuk Airport in northwestern Saudi Arabia, stressing that all passengers are fine and safe.
