The growing popularity of the in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedure in Russia is due to the fact that Russians began to postpone the birth of children until a later age, said Maria Milyutina, an obstetrician-gynecologist and reproductologist at the MD GROUP (Mother and Child) Clinical Hospital.

According to her, the growth in popularity of the IVF procedure among individual couples was also influenced by changes in their family life: after a divorce, people enter into a new marriage in adulthood and want to have a child together, but face difficulties in conceiving.
