BRICS calls for strengthening international peace and security

“We note the current global context of polarization and mistrust and call for global action to strengthen international peace and security. We call on the international community to respond to these challenges and related security threats with political and diplomatic measures to reduce the potential for conflict and emphasize the need for efforts to prevent conflicts, including by addressing their root causes,” the document says.

BRICS is an interstate association created in 2006 by Russia, China, India and Brazil; South Africa joined it in 2011. Since the beginning of 2024, a number of more countries have joined BRICS. India will preside over BRICS in 2026.
