The Hsinchu City Government's road leveling project has carried out repaving and sealing projects on many roads. City Council candidate Zeng Hanyang received complaints from citizens stating that although the road surface of Minzu Road has become smoother after the completion of paving and sealing, the parking grids and markings on the ground are completely different from those in the past. Some parking bays clearly extend out to the road, while others are so small that even pedestrians cannot walk on them. Such road leveling and markings do not take into account the needs of vehicles and pedestrians, making the road a gap and increasing the risk of driving.

The Municipal Maintenance Department stated that in order to ensure the construction quality of cold plastic markings and to prevent oil pollution on the surface of the newly laid AC pavement from affecting the adhesion effect of the cold plastic markings, the cold plastic markings on sidewalks cannot be constructed immediately after the AC pavement is completed. This construction method is expected to be carried out 7 days after the AC pavement is completed before the cold plastic markings are laid. In order to avoid causing confusion for pedestrians while the markings have not yet been constructed, the construction company has been asked to draw temporary sidewalk markings on site during the construction period to clearly guide pedestrians. After the AC road maintenance is completed, cold plastic markings will be installed.

In addition, the city government's Transportation Department stated that the bus parking area in front of the Agricultural and Food Office on Minzu Road is to provide a safe waiting space and walking environment for people waiting for buses. In conjunction with the road leveling construction, the marked sidewalks are planned. Regarding parking needs and marked sidewalks, they will go to the site to carefully review and evaluate whether to make adjustments to maintain pedestrian and driving safety.

Zeng Hanyang said that citizens reported that the newly designated parking spaces obviously extended outwards, directly occupying the originally spacious driving space. Not only does it make people who drive and ride bikes feel quite awkward, but it also increases the risk of crossing paths and seriously affects everyone's road safety. Although the purpose of moving parking spaces outside is to make room for marked sidewalks, the markings are not completed and vehicles have stopped first, which will cause a time lag in traffic safety. If vehicles and pedestrians are driving and walking on the road at the same time, accidents are likely to occur. The city government should take into account citizens' opinions and potential traffic blind spots, and re-examine and adjust the markings and parking grids on this section of the road. It must achieve the most reasonable balance between parking needs, pedestrian safety and driving safety, and do not let the road become a tiger's mouth.
