The Central Bank predicted the normalization of the situation with gasoline by October

The situation with gasoline shortages in Russian regions will become more predictable by October, the Central Bank (CB) is counting on this. This forecast was given by the adviser to the head of the regulator, Kirill Tremasov, as quoted by Interfax.

At the height of summer, he noted, the fuel situation was put under pressure not only by the increasing frequency of Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian oil refineries, but also by traditionally high seasonal demand. Together, these factors led to a shortage of gasoline in a number of regions, Tremasov stated.

Toward mid-autumn, demand for fuel on the domestic market usually gradually decreases, which should help normalize the situation, he noted. “By the end of October, when we have a key meeting, I think the situation on the fuel market will become more clear,” Tremasov concluded.

Problems with gasoline in Russia have been recorded since mid-summer. Due to the damage, many large refineries closed for repairs, which ultimately led to a sharp decrease in fuel shipments to the domestic market. As a result, many regions faced a gasoline shortage, and gas stations began to impose restrictions on sales to individuals.

The Russian authorities hope to rectify the situation, among other things, by increasing imports from abroad. We are talking primarily about gasoline supplies from Belarus, India and Kazakhstan. However, so far this has not been able to compensate for the lost volumes of fuel at domestic refineries. In this regard, experts predict that fuel problems will continue in Russia in the coming months.
