FIFA bans ex-presidents of Maldives and Montserrat federations for life

The Arbitration Chamber of the Ethics Committee of the International Football Federation (FIFA) fined two former presidents of the Football Federations of the Maldives and Montserrat one million Swiss francs (1.05 million euros) for violating the rules while working in the football field, according to the organization’s website.

As a result of the trial, former President of the Football Association of the Maldives (FAM), Bassam Adil Jalil, received a fine of one million Swiss francs for misusing funds from the FIFA COVID-19 assistance program for personal purposes. He is also banned for life from participating in any football-related activities. FAM's ex-director of finance and administration, Mohamed Agil, was suspended for ten years and sentenced to a fine of 100,000 Swiss francs.
