Physical conflict breaks out on American Airlines flight, man was kidnapped by passengers

A serious physical altercation broke out on an American Airlines flight scheduled to fly from Dallas to New Jersey's largest city at an altitude of 10,000 feet. A man suddenly went crazy and cursed a flight attendant, and even attacked a passenger sitting next to him. Fortunately, a passenger, a retired police officer, stepped forward and subdued him. Other passengers worked together to use zip ties and silver tape to secure the man to his seat. Photos of the man being mummified went viral on X.

According to "CBS News", this mid-air panic occurred on the evening of the 3rd. Chaos suddenly broke out about two hours after the American Airlines flight took off. Witness and retired law enforcement officer Juan Mejia said in an interview that the cabin was like a sudden switch, turning from calm to screaming and chaos in an instant. When he looked back, he found a man using both hands to strangle the neck of the aisle seat passenger and attack him.

Mejia and another passenger, who were sitting two rows in front of the man, saw this and immediately rushed forward to help subdue him. After the flight attendant provided the straps, everyone worked together to use straps and tape to wrap several times around the man's wrists, torso and even head, tightly binding him to the seat. Photos from the scene showed that the man was fixed with tape and completely unable to move.

Witnesses revealed that the flight attendant initially tried to calm the man's emotions, but unexpectedly the man lost control and yelled racial slurs and homophobic remarks, which later turned into physical violence. In order to maintain the safety of the entire aircraft, the crew decided to use coercive measures and made an emergency diversion to Baltimore.

After the flight made an emergency landing, local police officers boarded the plane and escorted the out-of-control man off the plane before the flight took off again to its destination, Newark. American Airlines later issued a statement emphasizing that the safety of passengers and crew is its top priority and has zero tolerance for violence. It also thanked the crew for their professional handling and passengers for their understanding.

The FBI confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody and details are under investigation.
