[Reporter Dong Boting/Taipei-Gwangju Connection Report] After the Gwangju City Government of South Korea issued a statement regarding the dispute over the name of the Taiwan Pavilion at the Gwangju Biennale, attention has been paid to whether the Taiwan Pavilion will be affected again. Curator Chen Xiangwen said in an online interview with this newspaper on the 1st that as of now, the organizer has not asked the Taiwan Pavilion to change its name, modify its identification, or adjust its exhibition content. "There have been no changes, and the exhibition has been successfully installed." However, due to the controversy in the previous stage, the actual exhibition installation time was reduced by more than one week from the original schedule, and the team is currently working hard.

There are only a few days left before the opening on September 5. Chen Xiangwen said that the team is currently stepping up the arrangement of the exhibition and has not yet received any further information from the Gwangju City Government. The exhibition party has not made any adjustments as a result.

Chen Xiangwen explained that the Taiwan Pavilion’s participation in the exhibition has been an established decision and will not change. As for the China Pavilion's suspension and withdrawal, she admitted that it was "a pity" and believed that the ideal situation would be for everyone to be able to exhibit together.

The previous controversy over the name of the "Taiwan Pavilion" also directly reduced the team's time to work on site. Chen Xiangwen pointed out that the current exhibition installation time is more than one week shorter than the original plan, and the original schedule has been delayed as a result. However, she emphasized that the works and related projects have not been affected. The biggest difficulty at this stage is that time is compressed and the team must speed up the layout progress.

She revealed that the relevant work on the outdoor output products has been completed and the team successfully passed the first day of entry. Next, artists will arrive in Gwangju one after another to continue to complete pre-exhibition preparations.

A total of 10 Taiwanese artists and curators participated in the Taiwan Pavilion of the Gwangju Biennale, including Li Yifan, Ruan Boyuan, Lin Yuliang, Zhang Wenxuan, Xu Zheyu, Chen Xiangwen, Chen Wanyin, Zheng Xianyu, Zheng Tingting and Su Huiyu. The exhibition is expected to open on September 5, and the Taiwan Pavilion is still organizing the exhibition according to the established plan.
