Party spokesman Cho Yong-sul said in a commentary that day, "The second trial court determined that Mr. Kang had asked Rep. Kim for approval of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety clinical trials through a broker, and also acknowledged that he paid 600 million won (to the broker) in return. The situation has now become one that cannot be dismissed as a mere suspicion."

He said, “We must carefully check what the 600 million won actually is, how the request was made, and what Rep. Kim’s role was in the process, and thoroughly reveal whether there was any additional power intervention in the solicitation process.” He added, “There is no sanctuary before the law. Rep. Kim must explain himself to the public.”

Five-term lawmaker Na Kyung-won said on Facebook, "Now the arrow of the investigation must be directed to the destination of the solicitation and the true nature of power-type lobbying," and emphasized, "We must thoroughly investigate not only Rep. Kim, but also the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, related brokers, fund flows, and suspicions of external pressure."

Rep. Na pointed out, “What would have happened if Rep. Kim, the ‘indictment cancellation errand boy’, had become the Minister of Justice?” and added, “President Lee Jae-myung must also be held accountable for his personnel appointments. If the President did not know, he was incompetent, and if he tried to push ahead with it despite knowing, he was deceiving the people.”

Independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon argued, "The appellate court clearly recognized that the 600 million won received by Ms. Yang, a broker at the Room Salon younger sister, from Mr. Kang was compensation for her 'brother' Kim Seung-won lobbying the Minister of Food and Drug Safety for poison drugs," and added, "Today, with the court arrest of Kang, the door has been opened for the 'oppa's poison lobbying special investigation.'"
