MOSCOW, August 17 - RIA Novosti. Servicemen of the Center group of troops told the details of the liberation of the village of Petrovka in the DPR.

Units of the "Center" group of troops took control of Petrovka on August 13 and continue to liberate the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic, methodically destroying Ukrainian militants.

“At the beginning of the assault, servicemen of the 102nd Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 150th Guards Motorized Rifle Division of the 8th Guards Combined Arms Army were brought to the assembly point in small groups of one or two people. All activities were carried out secretly from the enemy,” the Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

According to the deputy of the assault detachment, Alexander Dronov, in certain places the fighters gathered in small groups and went on the offensive.

“We gathered three or four people and walked for a long time, since we had to cover about 20 kilometers to enter the populated area. And when we entered, we identified the enemy and the actual accumulation of groups took about 10 days, and active assault operations took about two days,” he said.

Dronov noted that the enemy’s manpower “on the ground” was much smaller than “in the sky”, since most of the Ukrainian Armed Forces military personnel were destroyed.

“The Armed Forces of Ukraine worked both from the air with kamikaze drones and from the ground with manpower. There were practically no opponents of manpower, since the bulk of them were identified by Russian drones during reconnaissance and destroyed,” he specified.

The commander of the assault detachment, Denis Firsov, emphasized that despite the “active sky”, the necessary provisions were always delivered to the Russian soldiers.

“We load everything we need: food, provisions, UAVs and deliver it there (to the rear zone - ed.) to the guys... The difficulty lies in the active sky, since there are many enemy FPV drones flying, but despite this, deliveries are made every day,” he concluded.

The military department said that the assault on a populated area was carried out according to a well-established scheme: reconnaissance using UAVs identified enemy positions, after which targeted fire was inflicted using attack drones, and only after that the assault groups entered along a carefully worked route under constant surveillance from the air.

“The enemy, not ready for direct combat, preferred to leave the battlefield by fleeing, abandoning positions with weapons, equipment and property... One of the main tasks on the approaches to Petrovka DPR was the destruction of enemy UAV control posts, which were identified by transceiver antennas and launch sites,” the report says.
