The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation confirmed the legality of the jury's acquittal

The Supreme Court of Russia confirmed the legality of the acquittal based on the jury's verdict, rejecting the cassation submission of the Prosecutor General's Office about unlawful influence on the panel by the defense, it follows from court documents available to RIA Novosti.

“The desire of the defense ... to convince the jury of the innocence of the defendants ... challenging the reliability of this or that evidence, as well as expressing disagreement with the position of the public prosecutor cannot be regarded as exerting unlawful influence on the jury,” the definition says.

As follows from the documents, the Irkutsk Regional Court acquitted the defendants based on the jury's verdict; the appeal upheld the verdict.
