According to the police, every year around the holidays, there are many fraudulent crimes that occur on second-hand trading platforms, where people pretend to sell gift sets or gift certificates at a low price, steal the money, and then disappear.

In addition, crimes that induce small payments or steal financial information by inducing the installation of malicious apps through text messages purporting to confirm delivery, holiday greetings, mobile gift certificates, or traffic law violation fine inquiries are being repeated.

The police advised that in order to prevent damage from cyber fraud, you should not be deceived by advertisements such as selling expensive products at extraordinary discounts and should closely check business information and seller history.

Also, never click on links to Internet addresses in unconfirmed text messages, and strengthen your phone's security settings to prevent apps from unknown sources from being installed without permission.

Before making a transaction, it is helpful to prevent damage by checking the damage report history through the National Police Agency's 'Cyber ​​Fraud Damage Report History Check' service.

If you have suffered financial damage due to cyber fraud, you must report it by attaching evidence such as a transfer statement and a screen of the fraud damage.

Afterwards, you can apply for damage relief by submitting the fact confirmation certificate issued by the police station to related businesses such as mobile carriers and game companies.
