Amateur speleologists lost in the Red Cave in Crimea, rescued

A group of amateur speleologists became lost in the Red Cave in Crimea, unable to find a passage between two caves.

Rescuers found four tourists, their condition is satisfactory.

Tourists went along the Pigeon Cave - Red Cave route on September 28, and a search and rescue operation began on September 29.

The Crimean cave, where a lost group of tourists from amateur speleologists was found, contains areas where you can walk in circles and not find a passage, Gennady Samokhin, head of the Crimean Mountain Speleological Club, chairman of the Crimean branch of the Russian Geographical Society, told RIA Novosti.

Rescuers found four tourists who disappeared in the Red Cave in Crimea, their condition is satisfactory, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations told RIA Novosti on Tuesday. Later, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the republic reported that the group was unable to find a passage between the two caves.

“There are places in the cave where it is very difficult to find a passage. You will walk in circles in one place and not know where to go next,” Samokhin said.

According to him, there are many obstacles in the cave, but they are not critical.
