Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' led the All-Moscow religious procession and performed the Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior.

Believers will march to the Novodevichy Convent; the total length of the route will be about six kilometers.

MOSCOW, September 6 – RIA Novosti. Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' Kirill led the All-Moscow religious procession, RIA Novosti correspondent reports.

He celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior and headed along Soymonovsky Proezd to Prechistenskaya Embankment. At the head of the procession are carried three especially revered shrines: the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God, the reliquary with the relics of the Holy Grand Duke Demetrius Donskoy and the icon of All Saints of Moscow.

On Prechistenskaya Embankment, the head of the column will be joined by thousands of believers who have been gathering there since ten in the morning. Next, the procession will go to the Novodevichy Convent. The total length of the route is about six kilometers, the travel time will be 1.5-2 hours.

The first such procession took place in 1525 - then a copy of the miraculous Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God was solemnly transferred from the Annunciation Cathedral of the Moscow Kremlin to the Novodevichy Convent.

For the first time in modern history, the All-Moscow religious procession took place in 2025. About 400 thousand people took part in it. As Archbishop Savva of Zelenograd told RIA Novosti, this prayer procession is a revival of a tradition that dates back more than four centuries before the October Revolution.
