The all-Moscow religious procession ended at the Novodevichy Convent

The head of the column of the All-Moscow religious procession reached the Novodevichy Convent - the final point of the route, reports a RIA Novosti correspondent.

At the Novodevichy Convent, believers pass by the shrines that were carried in the procession this year - the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God, the relics of the Holy Grand Duke Demetrius Donskoy, the Icon of All Saints of Moscow - and venerate them.

The religious procession began at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, the route ran along the Prechistenskaya and Frunzenskaya embankments and Khamovnichesky Val Street - to the Novodevichy Convent. The total length of the route is about six kilometers, travel time is from one and a half to two hours.

For the first time in modern history, the All-Moscow religious procession took place in 2025. As Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' reported, about 400 thousand people took part in it.

As the Chairman of the Synodal Missionary Department, Deputy Administrator of the Moscow Patriarchate, Archbishop Savva (Tutunov) of Zelenograd told RIA Novosti, this prayer procession is a revival of the tradition of large Moscow-wide religious processions, which dated back more than four centuries before the October Revolution.
