The China-Vietnam Detian (Ban Gioc) Waterfall Cross-border Tourism Cooperation Zone has been in operation for nearly three years and has received more than 70,000 cross-border tourists.

China News Service, Nanning, September 7 (Reporter Yang Chen) Guangxi Chongzuo City officials held a press conference in Nanning on the 7th to disclose that since its operation in September 2023, the China-Vietnam Detian (Ban Gioc) Waterfall Cross-border Tourism Cooperation Zone has been open for nearly three years. As of September 6, there were 70,439 cross-border tourists in the scenic spot’s “One-Day Tour to Two Countries”, becoming a remarkable achievement of China-Vietnam cross-border cultural tourism cooperation.

As a frontier port city for China’s opening up and cooperation with ASEAN, Chongzuo, located on the China-Vietnam border, has unique border customs and high-quality ecological and cultural tourism resources.

Ban Huaqin, member of the Standing Committee of the Chongzuo Municipal Party Committee and Minister of the Propaganda Department, introduced at a press conference on the 7th that in the next five years, the local government will rely on its advantages in border, ecological and cultural resources and make efforts from three aspects: product innovation, cultural exchanges and industrial linkage to build Chongzuo into an international border-style tourist destination.

In terms of enriching the "cross-border tourism" business formats, Chongzuo will focus on cultivating cross-border self-driving tours and cross-border red study tours, improve the cooperation mechanism for mutual supply of customers and mutual promotion of routes between travel agencies in China and Vietnam, continue to iteratively upgrade cross-border tourism products, and enhance the core attractiveness of border cross-border cultural tourism. Previously, the "one-day tour" and "two-day tour" from Pingxiang (China) to Lang Son (Vietnam) were successively opened, and the timeliness of port customs clearance was optimized, which has laid the foundation for the expansion and quality improvement of cross-border tourism.

At the level of cultural exchanges, Chongzuo uses festivals, cultural and sports activities as a link to build a normalized non-governmental exchange platform between China and Vietnam. Since 2026, the local government has cooperated with Vietnam's border counties and cities to innovatively carry out a series of border cultural exchange activities such as "opening the door of friendship together, searching for the roots of friendship together, expressing friendship together, and singing friendship songs together".

According to reports, in the future, Chongzuo will also promote the in-depth integrated development of culture, tourism, agriculture and commerce, relying on border special resources such as durian and rosewood, to hold durian product tasting and promotion meetings, Sino-Vietnamese product promotion meetings and other activities to achieve two-way empowerment of cultural tourism and related industries; continue to deepen pragmatic cooperation between Chinese and Vietnamese tourism-related enterprises, drive the coordinated development of scenic spots, accommodation, catering, cultural and creative products and other industries, transform cross-border cultural tourism resource advantages into industrial development advantages, so that the results of cross-border cultural tourism cooperation can better benefit the people of the two countries.
