MOSCOW, June 19 – RIA Novosti. Servicemen of the 177th Guards Marine Regiment of the Center group of troops reported details of the liberation of the settlement of New Donbass of the Donetsk People's Republic, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported.
On Tuesday, the department reported that Russian military personnel had liberated the settlement of New Donbass in the Donetsk People's Republic.
“Under constant adjustment from the air, the Marines on foot entered the outskirts of the village, making gaps in the barriers with the help of artillery and FPV drones. Attempts to rotate the enemy were stopped by operators of strike drones - the delivery equipment was identified and destroyed,” the Russian Ministry of Defense reported.
The company commander with the call sign August spoke about the preparation of personnel for the assault.
“There were a huge number of Ukrainian engineering obstacles - anti-tank ditches, barbed wire, tangled wire, yagoza. And knowing this, we began the appropriate training of personnel: at the training grounds we tore out accurate models of engineering obstacles used by the enemy and trained personnel to overcome them,” he explained.
The company commander also spoke about the feat of a soldier with the call sign Nemo, who single-handedly cleared an enemy stronghold.
He noted that the enemy’s strong point was made in a very interesting way, since it contained all two dugouts - one was false (mined with a landmine), and the enemy was in the second dugout.
“Our fighter began clearing and first went to a false position, throwing a grenade in front of him, which saved his life, since the grenade exploded, removing the landmine installed in it. If the fighter had not done this, he would have been mined,” the officer shared.
Battalion commander Dmitry Nikolaev emphasized that the enemy moved only in small foot groups of one or two people, as he was afraid to leave cover, so the Ukrainian Armed Forces more often used unmanned systems.
He added that his main goal was to minimize the risk to personnel. “Therefore, our attack aircraft performed tasks not like infantrymen, but worked more with FPV drones and like artillery,” Nikolaev said.
An attack aircraft with the call sign Kaban shared that without the support of drones and without the military brotherhood, it would have been more difficult to liberate the populated area.
“The guys helped us a lot, since medicine, water and food were delivered using drones. And when we were walking down the street and clearing it, four opponents came towards us - we destroyed two, and our FPV drones destroyed the other two,” he said.
The stormtrooper noted that when clearing, there is always some fear, but a partner and comrades help overcome it.
“If we don’t support each other, we will soon lose heart. Because throughout the entire group we support each other, like our commander, who always said: “Guys, let’s go ahead, everything is fine, everything is fine,” recalls Kaban.
