A plane crashes during an air show in Athens and the two pilots are unconscious

Thick plumes of black smoke were seen rising from the site of the plane crash, in the presence of thousands of spectators who were watching the activities of Athens Air Week, an annual air show.

Greek Air Force officials said it was not yet clear whether the two pilots were able to leave the plane before it crashed.

Later, it was reported that the two pilots were found unconscious shortly after 4 p.m.

The circumstances of the accident remain mysterious until now. According to preliminary information, the plane fell from a low altitude on the base's runway before landing.

According to eyewitnesses, it appeared that smoke was coming out of the plane before it fell, and the witnesses themselves reported that the plane suddenly began to lose altitude before it crashed.

There were no immediate reports of injuries among those present, and video footage from the accident site showed a firefighting helicopter flying over the area, in an attempt to control the flames and prevent the fire from spreading.
