Security forces surrounded a car that veered onto the sidewalk near the White House and arrested the driver

The Sun newspaper reported that, on Saturday afternoon, law enforcement and military personnel cordoned off the intersection of 16th and H Streets near Lafayette Square Park, after a car veered onto the sidewalk adjacent to the security fence surrounding the White House.

The newspaper said that Secret Service agents arrested the man after receiving a report of a security breach, noting that the arrested man was driving the car and demanded to speak to the US President after placing handcuffs on him.

According to "Sun", officers searched the car and cordoned off the surrounding area, while footage from the accident site showed Secret Service police officers removing the SUV from the area.

Footage published by an independent White House correspondent on the “Pavlovich Today” website via the “X” platform showed the arrival of a convoy of Secret Service SUVs to the site of the accident.

The correspondent said that members of the Secret Service and members of the army were present at the security perimeter, but she explained that they were “not authorized to reveal” what was happening at the site.

The Secret Service or the White House have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.

US President Donald Trump was at Camp David over the weekend, and was not in the White House at the time of the incident.
