Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian said that his country is ready for diplomacy, but they are not afraid of war against the threats and pressures of the USA.
Pezeşkiyan spoke at the 81st General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) in New York.
In his speech, Pezeshkian responded to US President Donald Trump's characterization of Iran as "terrorist" by showing photographs of civilians and children killed by the US and Israel during the war, and said that Iranians were "victims of terrorism".
Reminding that the USA and Israel killed Iranian scientists, women and children, Pezeshkian said, "Terrorists and terrorist supporters label us as terrorists, we only defended ourselves, we are not terrorists." he said.
Pezeshkiyan said that the USA and Israel attacked Iran with state-of-the-art weapons and that Iran defended itself, and reminded that schools, hospitals, bridges and civilian infrastructure were targeted by the USA and Israel in the attacks.
Pezeshkian said, "Iran has never started a war and has always shown its commitment to the negotiation table. The war was imposed on us. We have proven that we are not afraid of war and do not shy away from peace talks to defend ourselves, and we will defend our beloved Iran until the end." he said.
Stating that US-backed Israel does not hesitate to bomb wherever it wants in the region, Pezeşkiyan said, "Israel bombs and terrorizes wherever it wants. They do not adhere to any international laws and rules." he said.
"THE ATOMIC BOMB IS IN ISRAEL, THE INSPECTORS ARE IN IRAN"
Pezeshkian emphasized that Israel has nuclear weapons, has refused to join the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), and has not allowed a single international inspector throughout its entire history.
"The atomic bombs are in Israel and they have not been subject to any control, but the inspectors are in Iran. Israel is killing, but the sanctions are applied to Iran." said the Iranian President and continued as follows:
"If we are seeking justice, friend and opponent must be evaluated with the same criteria. Iran does not seek special privileges, it only demands equal rights and is ready to accept its responsibilities." he said.
"NÜKLEER SİLAH İSTEMİYORUZ ANCAK BARIŞÇIL NÜKLEER PROGRAMIMIZIN KISITLANMASINI KABUL ETMEYİZ"
Reiterating that Iran does not intend to acquire nuclear weapons, Pezeshkian said, "We do not need anyone's permission for peaceful nuclear technology. We will never give up our rights. We do not want nuclear weapons, but we do not accept the restriction of our peaceful nuclear program." he said.
Pezeshkian noted that the issue can only be resolved through a mutual agreement that will guarantee the rights of the Iranian people and the "peaceful nature" of this program.
"WE DO NOT WANT TO CREATE INSAFETY IN THE WATERS OF THE STRAIT OF HORmuz"
Referring to the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and the US naval blockade in his speech, Pezeşkiyan said:
"Iran does not see its neighbors as security rivals; we want to have strong neighbors. We do not want to create insecurity in the waters of the Strait of Hormuz. At the same time, they cannot use this waterway to impose their aggression against us, to bring us insecurity and deny us access to our own waterways. They are blocking our access to our own waterway. They continue to supply missiles and lethal military technologies to bring insecurity to all lands around this waterway."
Pezeşkiyan continued his words as follows:
"Iran clearly warns its enemies that it will give a regrettable response to any attack, emphasizing that it is always ready for diplomacy and rational dialogue based on mutual respect, but under no circumstances will it accept the imposition of demands through pressure and force and threats."
