Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan discussed cooperation in the space sector and economic partnership with French President Emmanuel Macron

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris to discuss Armenian-French cooperation in the space sector.

The interlocutors called economic cooperation one of the priority areas of strategic partnership and noted Armenia’s steps to diversify the economy.

The parties discussed the construction of the Bargushat tunnel in the south of Armenia with the participation of French companies and emphasized the importance of the early start of construction work.

YEREVAN, September 9 - RIA Novosti. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, during a meeting in Paris with French President Emmanuel Macronov, stated the importance of deepening Armenian-French cooperation in the space sector, the press service of the Armenian Cabinet reports.

Pashinyan is in France on a working visit to participate in the International Space Summit.

According to the press service, during the meeting Macron emphasized the importance of further development of bilateral relations in all areas in accordance with the bilateral declaration on strategic cooperation.

“Pashinyan thanked for the invitation, noting the importance of deepening cooperation with France in the space sector. The head of state noted that Armenia is interested in a more substantive partnership in this area,” the message says.

In addition, the interlocutors called economic cooperation one of the priority areas of the strategic partnership between the two countries and “in this context, noted the consistent steps of the Armenian government to diversify the economy.”

In this regard, the parties noted that work on the construction of the Bargushat tunnel in the south of Armenia, near the border with Iran, in which French companies are planned to participate, has entered the substantive phase. The importance of starting construction work as soon as possible was emphasized, the statement said.
