ANKARA, September 28 - RIA Novosti. Türkiye in the near future intends to intensify diplomatic efforts to resolve the Ukrainian conflict and ensure the safety of navigation in the Black Sea, a source in the Turkish Cabinet told RIA Novosti.

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that discussions were underway regarding security in the Black Sea. Türkiye did indeed present its proposals on the issue of ensuring security in the Black Sea, said Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov.

“Turkey will soon intensify diplomacy on Ukraine and the safety of navigation in the Black Sea. Ankara will continue contacts with the parties to restore the safety of maritime communications, protect commercial shipping and prevent the further spread of the conflict,” the agency’s interlocutor said.

According to him, Turkey believes that the Black Sea should not turn into a war zone, and the safety of merchant ships and unhindered movement along sea routes should be ensured. “Türkiye will continue diplomatic steps aimed at resuming the negotiation process and creating conditions for a sustainable security regime in the Black Sea,” he added.

The agency's interlocutor noted that Ankara views the safety of navigation as one of the key elements in preventing further escalation of the conflict.

The source emphasized that Türkiye intends to continue contacts with both the Russian and Ukrainian sides, seeking to develop mutually acceptable mechanisms.
