The Mid-Autumn Festival, which was supposed to be a joyful gathering for the whole family, turned into a sad day of farewell. A heartbreaking accident was reported this morning (25th) at the seaside of the famous scenic spot "Rou Zong Kok" in Xixiang, Changhua County. An 80-year-old man went out alone to set up a bamboo raft to fish in the early morning. Unexpectedly, he lost his voice. After the police, firefighting, marine patrol, and air service corps launched a large-scale land, sea and air search and rescue, the air service helicopter crew finally found the old man 200 meters away from the shore. Unfortunately, there was no sign of life when he was rescued, and his family members cried bitterly.

The Changhua County Fire Department received a report from the old man's daughter this morning, saying that his father had been fishing at the beach all night and had not returned. His motorcycle was only found on the shore of Rouzongjiao. It was high tide at that time and there was no trace of it on the sea. The fire department immediately dispatched 8 fire trucks, 1 ambulance, drones, boats and 15 search and rescue personnel to the scene, commanded by Jiang Jinsong, deputy captain of the First Brigade. After checking the monitor and confirming that the old man arrived at the shore at 1:45 a.m., the search and rescue team, together with the coast patrol, coast patrol and air service teams, dispatched helicopters to launch a large-scale land, sea and air search and rescue.

At 10:25 a.m., an air crew helicopter found an old man who had fallen into the water 200 meters away from the shore. A coast guard boat approached and rescued him. Unfortunately, the old man showed no signs of life. His body was later transported to the shore and handed over to his family members. The Mid-Autumn Festival, which originally symbolized reunion, has turned into a tragedy. The police also reminded people to pay attention to tidal changes when going to coastal intertidal zones, and not to go alone to dangerous sea areas late at night or during high tide to avoid regrets.
