There is another case in Yunlin where a village chief candidate gave cakes to a suspected election bribery case. A certain village chief candidate in Beigang, surnamed Cai, who was running for re-election, held birthday celebrations and travel activities, and presented cakes and essential oil handmade soaps respectively. The Yunlin District Prosecutor's Office yesterday (2 4) On the same day, the Yunlin County Police Department, Investigation Station and Immigration Department Yunlin Task Force went to search for Candidate Cai and Zhuangjiao, and summoned Candidate Cai and others to the case. After the interrogation, they requested the court to detain Candidate Cai and Zhuangjiao.

The Yunlin District Prosecutor's Office pointed out that the prosecutors received information that a candidate named Cai, the mayor of a certain neighborhood in Beigang Town, was suspected of bribery. Prosecutor Huang Shuqing directed the Beigang Police Division to form a task force to investigate. After collecting evidence and clear information, yesterday they went to the homes of candidate Cai and Zhuangjiao, seized handmade soap, account books and write-off receipts, and notified and summoned 40 candidates named Cai and relevant witnesses to report to the case.

According to Yunjian's investigation, the candidate surnamed Cai held a birthday party for residents of the province on July 3, during which each person was given a box of birthday cakes. He also held a travel event on July 25, during which he sent handmade soaps with essential oils during the trip. The gifts were economically beneficial and practical, and were given to residents of the province who have the right to vote.

The prosecutor said that after interrogation by prosecutors in the entire case, they found that the candidate named Cai and the stakeholder were both involved in serious election bribery crimes and were in danger of collusion, evidence destruction, and escape. They applied to the Yunlin District Court for detention and banning, and the others were asked to return.

The Yunlin District Prosecutor's Office pointed out that it has received a total of 160 pieces of suspected election bribery information so far, of which the largest number is the gift of cash, gifts and other property. All of them are currently under investigation. The prosecutor calls on candidates and campaign teams not to provide any property of economic value, or subsidize travel expenses, meals, etc., as payment for election bribery.
