The new protection system covers the combat vehicle from all perspectives and does not reduce its mobility.

The assault protection kit is already being supplied as part of new batches of T-80BVM tanks sent to the troops to perform special missions.

MOSCOW, September 11 - RIA Novosti. The Uralvagonzavod concern (part of the Rostec state corporation) has begun equipping T-80BVM tanks with new additional protection against drones in the form of high-strength steel cables on all sides of the vehicle, the concern reported on Friday.

“The Uralvagonzavod concern (as part of the Rostec state corporation) has developed and put into serial production a new assault all-aspect protection kit for T-80BVM tanks. The main feature of the new system, designed to protect combat vehicles from attacks by unmanned aerial vehicles, is the use of special high-strength steel ropes (cables),” the report says.

Previously, such protective screens were manufactured by repair teams and crews directly in the combat zone. The designers of the UVZ concern analyzed this experience and created a reliable standard alternative to field modifications.

“The new kit covers the combat vehicle from all perspectives. Upon impact, steel cables deform the body of the cumulative ammunition or cause it to detonate at a safe distance from the main armor. At the same time, the flexible design does not reduce the mobility of the tank, does not limit the crew’s visibility and does not interfere with the work with sighting systems,” the concern explained.

UVZ emphasized that preserving the life and health of crews, as well as the survivability of combat vehicles on the battlefield, is an absolute priority. The concern's specialists are in constant direct contact with military personnel on the front line. A prompt response to their requests allowed us to quickly develop and put into production a new assault UAV protection kit. Factory execution guarantees strict compliance with the standards of strength, weight loads and ergonomics of the T-80BVM tank.

“The industrial kit has passed a full cycle of factory tests, which eliminates excess load on the chassis and mechanisms of the machine,” the Uralvagonzavod concern reported.
