Chinese woman robbed of 8 million yen in cash in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, Japan

The Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) and TBS quoted the Tokyo police as reporting that witnesses at the scene called the report hotline at around 8:30 last night and reported that "a robbery had occurred" on a pedestrian section of Ikebukuro, Toshima Ward, Tokyo.

The crime scene is about 400 meters northwest of Ikebukuro Station, in a lively neighborhood lined with restaurants and commercial buildings.

Tokyo police investigation pointed out that the 60-year-old Chinese female victim was sprayed with a liquid suspected to be tear gas spray by two men, was beaten on the back of the head, and had her shoulder bag taken away. The two suspects fled the scene immediately after succeeding, and the female victim suffered minor head injuries.

The female victim claimed to the police that there was approximately 8 million yen in cash in the bag. The police are currently investigating the robbery case and are fully pursuing the whereabouts of the two fugitive suspects.
