Pet training facility operator mauled to death by dog in Hong Kong

The 33-year-old operator of a pet training facility has been mauled to death in the northern part of Hong Kong, the victim of a dog attack, police have said.

Confirming an earlier South China Morning Post report, investigators said closed-circuit television footage showed the woman working alone at the facility at Ping Yeung San Tsuen in Ta Kwu Ling before her death at around 4pm on Thursday.

Assistant district commander Matthew Chan Kai-chak said the woman was trying to return a one‑year‑old mongrel to its cage after feeding it in the facility at about 2pm.

The one‑metre-tall dog refused and attacked her for about a minute, leaving wounds on her head, neck, lower jaw and both arms.

CCTV footage then showed the woman and the dog leaving the facility and heading towards a lawn area.

Police earlier said they received a report at 4.12pm that a woman had been found collapsed outside Ping Yeung Tsuen. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
