Philadelphia man wears Chucky mask and scares passers-by, police issue arrest warrant

NBC News reported that Philadelphia police have issued an arrest warrant for 22-year-old Zymire Hughes. Authorities said the person involved may have fled Pennsylvania and "has connections to California and Nevada."

Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner told the media: "No one in the world should imitate what this man who dressed up to be scary and is still on the run did. He is an asshole, I mean, that's the problem. He scared a lot of people for no reason, and we will never condone this behavior."

Police pointed out that the suspect had worked in Las Vegas and Los Angeles, and he was seen dragging his luggage out of his residence two days ago.

Police said the case occurred around 5:30 a.m. ET on the 12th when a 40-year-old woman went out for a morning jog and was "chased by a masked man with unknown intentions" at 1500 John F. Kennedy Blvd. near Philadelphia City Hall.

Philadelphia Police Chief Jason Smith said today that the man allegedly held up his cell phone and continued to threaten the woman who managed to flee the scene: "Are you ready to die?"

He told the media that the victim was in shock. The man continued to repeat that sentence, and the victim accidentally injured her leg when she turned around and ran away. "As far as I know, she will need a lot of medical treatment to heal the injury."

According to police, the man involved was carrying a conspicuous blue checkered backpack. He was last seen running quickly into a nearby subway station.

Smith said Metro police asked the man to remove his mask as he entered the station. Smith showed video of the police interaction with the man, adding that it was clear Hughes "tried to conceal his identity as much as possible."
