Briton Joshua Kerry, accused of murdering conservative politician from the Reform UK party Anne Widecombe, was charged on Friday with another charge of preparing terrorist attacks, including against the leader of the same party, Nigel Farage.
The British police counter-terrorism unit and the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced the new charges against Kerry, 28, on Friday.
“Having carefully reviewed the evidence, we have decided to prosecute Kerry for participation in the preparation of terrorist acts,” said CPS Counter-Terrorism Chief Prosecutor Frank Ferguson. “Our prosecutors worked closely with the police and determined that there was enough evidence to bring this case to trial.”
Police said the new charges relate to actions taken by Kerry between May 2024 and July 2026, the last two years before his arrest.
Kerry, a resident of Rotherham in South Yorkshire (Northern England), was arrested on suspicion of murdering veteran British politician Anne Widecombe on July 11 and formally charged on July 20.
The body of Widecombe, 78, with a head wound, was found at her home in a remote area of Devon in southwest England on July 9.
Widecombe was a Conservative MP from the late 1980s until 2010 and served in the government of Prime Minister John Major.
