Lufthansa flight makes emergency landing in Lyon due to fire in mobile power supply

Lufthansa said a flight from Frankfurt to Lisbon, Portugal, had to make an emergency diversion to Lyon, France, after a passenger's power bank battery caught fire. No one was injured in the incident.

Agence France-Presse reported that the Airbus A321-200 aircraft carrying 198 passengers was en route to Lisbon when the incident occurred yesterday.

A Lufthansa spokesman said the crew immediately put the flaming battery into a safety bag designed for lithium batteries and that no one was injured.

Based on precautionary considerations, the pilot decided to divert to Lyon and the flight landed safely. The passengers stayed one night locally and continued their original itinerary today.

Lufthansa said: "The safety of passengers and crew is always Lufthansa's top priority."

The airline has banned the use and charging of power banks on flights since January. However, as long as certain safety regulations are met, passengers can still carry up to two power banks onboard. (Compiled by: He Hongru) 1150928
