The Russian Embassy stated that there are no threats to Russian projects in Ethiopia

There have been no direct threats to the implementation of Russian-Ethiopian projects against the backdrop of the escalating conflict in the country, the Russian Embassy in Ethiopia said.

In Ethiopia, clashes between government forces and rebels resumed in September, which the authorities blame on external forces.

“No direct threats to the implementation of Russian-Ethiopian projects have been recorded,” the Russian Embassy in Ethiopia told the Izvestia newspaper.

At the same time, the diplomatic mission noted that they did not have data on the presence of Russians in the areas of combat operations, and there were no requests for help either.

The diplomatic mission is in close contact with the Ethiopian authorities on issues of the safety of Russian citizens and projects being implemented in the country, diplomats added.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said on September 25 that Russia is following with concern the development of the situation in the Ethiopian regions of Tigray, Afar and Amhara. She called on the parties to the conflict to ceasefire and strictly implement the existing settlement agreements, and all external players to refrain from attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of Ethiopia.
