[Reporter Liang Weiming/Comprehensive Report] Carlos Alcaraz played steadily and defeated the "Norwegian No. 1 Brother" Casper Ruud with two 6:4. Spain's second seed entered the Paris Men's Tennis Masters championship for the first time. The final opponent was the American "left-handed heavy gun" Ben Shelton.
"I'm really happy and proud of myself." This ATP thousand-level indoor hard court competition has come to an end at the La Défense Arena in Paris. Alkaraz continued his winning momentum at the 500-level Vienna and won the Gold Cup for the first time in the French capital. The 23-year-old former world champion only spent 86 minutes to defeat Ruud, advancing to the 11th Masters final in his career and the 7th different Masters. "It has always been difficult for me here. I struggled every time. My previous best result was the top 8. Now that the season is coming to an end, I feel in better shape, more fighting spirit, and more ambitious to compete."
Ekaraz faced off against the third seed Shelton. Although he had a 3-1 lead in the past, their most recent meeting was in the quarterfinals of the US Open in September. The latter won in five sets, so Ekaraz couldn't wait to avenge his defeat. "I'm really happy and excited. I will do my best to prepare and give myself a chance. Especially when I played hard last time, I will try to strengthen in some details and key moments this time. I believe it will be a wonderful showdown."
