CCTV News (News Broadcast): Yunnan is an important place for the Red Army’s Long March, which sows the revolutionary fire in the land of Yunling. Standing at a new historical starting point, the people of all ethnic groups in Yunnan continue to carry forward the red blood, inherit and carry forward the spirit of the great Long March, and strive to write a chapter of Chinese-style modernization in Yunnan.

From 1935 to 1936, the Central Red Army, the Second Red Army, and the Sixth Red Army successively fought in 33 counties in Yunnan. They skillfully crossed the Jinsha River and escaped the pursuit and interception of hundreds of thousands of enemy troops, achieving a decisive victory in strategic transfer. Jiaoping Ferry, located in Luquan Yi and Miao Autonomous County, Kunming City, was the decisive crossing for the Central Red Army to "skilfully cross the Jinsha River". The history of 37 local boatmen risking their lives to help the Red Army cross the river has become a red memory that will never be forgotten.

Inherit the red spirit and draw on the strength of progress. The former natural dangers of Jinsha have been transformed into high gorges and flat lakes, benefiting the people of Sichuan and Yunnan on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. Near the Kyaukping Ferry and riverside ruins, the Wudongde Hydropower Station, which was completed and put into operation in 2020, can now meet the electricity needs of more than 34 million urban and rural residents every year. As the backbone of the "West-to-East Power Transmission" project, Wudongde Hydropower Station and downstream Baihetan, Xiluodu and other hydropower stations form the world's largest clean energy corridor spanning 1,800 kilometers with a total installed capacity of over 70 million kilowatts.

During the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, Yunnan will consolidate and improve characteristic and advantageous industries such as plateau characteristic agriculture, cultural tourism, and green energy, strive to create a national advanced manufacturing industry cluster for green phosphorus chemicals, actively develop strategic emerging industries such as biomedicine and new materials, and deploy its computing power overseas. At the same time, decisive progress has been made in promoting the construction of my country's national unity and progress demonstration zone, the vanguard of ecological civilization construction, and the radiation center for South Asia and Southeast Asia.
