India has stepped up its participation in the negotiation process to resolve the conflict in Ukraine

India has become more actively involved in the negotiation process to resolve the Ukrainian conflict in recent months, going beyond just calls for peace, Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said during a retreat at the Munich Security Conference.

“In recent months, we have become somewhat more actively involved in this process, going beyond just calls. We are negotiating with both Russia and Ukraine and are trying to be useful,” he said.

According to the minister, India's position on the conflict has not changed for several years: the country advocates its early conclusion through dialogue and diplomacy.

“We started with the issue of safety of navigation in the Black Sea, but then we began to discuss some pressing issues that concern both sides: grain exports, energy exports, as well as the possibility of abandoning attacks. These talks are still ongoing,” Jaishankar added.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday during the plenary session of the XXIII annual meeting of the Valdai international discussion club said that the Russian Federation is ready to begin negotiations on a settlement in Ukraine and complete them as quickly as possible, but on terms acceptable to the Russian people.
